Main Research Activities
(1950 - 1979) - experimental research of the isobaric Heat Capacity (Cp) of water and steam in the Critical Region, near the saturation and melting curves and at high pressures and temperatures.
1964 – IAPWS decided that discrepancies between the Sirota et al. (1956 – 1963) Cp-data and International Equations of State should not exceed fixed limits.
Thus,Cp-data for the first time in IAPWS history received the status of so-called «International Sceleton Tables». New experimental Cp-data from the VTI published in 1956 – 1979 сompletely replaced the experimental Cp-data obtained earlier in the VTI and MEI and received State awards in 1950 and in 1959, respectively.
The experimental equipment for Cp-research developed at the VTI was also used in scientific research centers in Grozny, Baku and Minsk.
